Daniel Arsham has worked closely with the Pokémon Company on a wide-ranging series of collaborations spanning multiple brands. As the first visual artist granted access to the Pokémon archives, Arsham has been able to bring his fictional archaeology concept to many of the beloved characters from the legendary video game franchise.

From an art toy / sculpture perspective, the showcase projects will be released under the artist’s new Archive Editions label which will will produce limited edition product exclusively for release in China. The upcoming  Eroded Pikachu resin sculpture will immediately bring attention and recognition to the new brand. The piece features arguably the most famous Pokémon of all  as a time-worn relic presented in Arsham’s signature aesthetic. Sections of Pikachu have given away and crumbled, revealing gleaming crystals within.  The Relics of Kanto project video below provides insight into Arasham’s perspective on the project, its scope, and numerous previews including upcoming bronze sculptures.

In addition to the work for Archive Editions, Arasham has also collaborated with Uniqlo UT on a Pokémon collection featuring character T-shirts. The previewed Mew Too design portrays the powerful character as a crystal relic. The collection will be released worldwide on Friday, April 24th 2020.
