Hollow Mickey + Tripartite Mickey Plush from Daniel Arsham x Disney x APPortfolio

Daniel Arsham has collaborated with Disney and APPortfolio on two limited-edition Mickey art object projects to be released at this weekend’s INNERSECT convention in Shanghai, China (12.6 – 12.8).

Redefining expectations and expanding the scope of plush as art object, Arsham has created the Tripartite Mickey Plush figures in three large-format sizes, starting at 18.5″ (3000 pieces, 2480 RMB/$352), continuing to an impressive 44″ intermediate size (500 pieces, 15000 RMB/$2133) and finally topping out at a massive 80″ (Edition of 10, 180,000 RMB/$25,608), taller than many NBA players.  Each plush features Arsham’s Future Relic-inspired design featuring hand-style drawings and text referencing quartz crystals. All three sizes are crafted in the same fabric Arasham used for his recent furniture collection for Design Miami and include sewn tags with his logo. Based on the press release, it appears that each of the 80″ pieces features a different color treatment including three neutral+black designs.

In addition to the Future Relic-inspired plush editions, Arasham returns to his signature aesthetic with the new Hollow Mickey resin sculptures. The 15.75″ minimalist, white sculpture features the artist’s familiar extruded design, evoking a blown, billowing sheet of fabric. Hollow Mickey envelops the world’s most famous mouse in Arasham’s endless, undulating tapestry of white contours. Limited to 500 pieces, the Hollow Mickey sculptures will be available for 8,800 RMB ($1252) at the exhibition which will also feature a 3 meter Hollow Mickey sculptural installation.

Daniel Arsham’s incomparable new Mickey editions will be available at INNERSECT from Apportfolio (Booth E5F15).
