James Jean’s artistic journey, spanning over two decades, has constantly pushed the boundaries of creativity by blending mythical narratives with contemporary aesthetics. His latest creation, 《Blossom》, once again perfectly embodies this fusion in collaboration with AllRightsReserved (ARR). The piece, which doubles as a sculpture and a functional chair, captivates with its unique design, inspiring reflection and creativity.
Inspired by the Maori creation myth,《Blossom》tells a story of primal separation and new life. Carved from wood, it features three oval shapes adorned with faces and petals, evoking the mythical offspring of the sky father and earth mother. Complementing this remarkable sculpture is a concept print hand-drawn by Jeanhimself, offering a different visual perspective on the theme and showcasing his attention to detail.
Accompanying this masterpiece is a concept print hand-drawn by Jean himself, offering a different perspective on the same theme. With its intricate details, harmonious elements, and textured composition, the print provides an additional layer of depth to the overall experience. Each print, measuring 30.4 x 25.4 cm, is individually signed and numbered.
Edition of 15,《Blossom》(45.7 x 34.7 x 34.6 cm, Wood) are available via lottery now until Monday (3.3) at 1 pm HKT (Monday, 3.3 at 12 am EST) for HKD 94,200 ($12,010). Entry is via the DDT Store. The figure also comes with a concept print hand-drawn by Jean. The piece is expected to start shipping in July 2024.
