Moe Nakamura’s ‘Growth’ Exhibition in Tawain

Monster Taipei and Gallery Tsubaki will present Growth, a retrospective exhibition from Japanese artist Moe Nakamura at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei from February 22nd through March 8th 2020.  Nakamura’s first solo show will showcase her work’s core theme of growth through 60+ original works includings sculptures and paintings. Nakamura is best known for her inspiring sculptures of children representing the natural world, which she carves from single blocks of wood.

In addition to the original artwork on display, Monster Taipei and Gallery Tsubaki will also release Moe Nakamura’s limited-edition Alone in the Dark polystone sculpture (27.5 cm / 10.8″) at the exhibition. The striking piece features a child with long, flowing rainbow-hued hair that skirts around her single, prominent horn, covers one eye and extends down to the middle of her torso. The enigmatic one stands on a circular tree stump base. Alone in the Dark include a signed and numbered wooden Certificate of Authenticity. Specific release details have yet to be announced.

Growth is a ticketed exhibition with advance tickets available for NT$200 ($6.70) and NT 380 ($12.70) for the Golden Pin Badge set which includes the exhibition and pin.  Tickets are available now via UDN.
