Coarse has warmed up their incubators in anticipation of their first 2011 release – Oop Loser. Based on a a pair of sculptures from last Summer’s Glimpse of Truth exhibition, the new 2-figure set features embryonic versions of their signature characters. In this early form, they are referred to as Oop and Aw!.
The new 7” vinyl figures have a streamlined, slightly abstract appearance in comparison to their ‘adult’ renditions. Their over-sized heads, relative to their bodies, and overall rounded shape give them a very different feel from the previous figures – not quite busts, yet certainly not bipedal pieces either.
Shipping in a vented adoption vessel, Oop Loser will be available in two editions – HKG Brood (200 pcs, HK$ 1280 [~ $164]) and Signature Brood (retailer edition, HK$ 998 [~ $136]). HKG Brood will be available for pre-sale on March 8th 2011 (delivery in June) through the Coarse HKG online store, while the Signature Brood will be available at retailers this Summer. The two editions have slight color variations – HKG Brood features innocent white/blush while the Signature edition counters with white/sunny-side yellow.
