Action Man 40 40 @ Blink Gallery (5.16.06)

For the 40th anniversary of Hasbro's Action Man (G.I. Joe in the USA), Clutter Magazine  and Hasbro have organized the Action Man 40 40 Exhibition at Blink Gallery in London, England opening on May 16th and running through the 27th.  To celebrate one of the truly classic 12" figures, the  40 participating artists have been asked to splash their talents on  reproduction editions of the original Action Man.

The chosen artists range from artists known for their work with 12" figures including Michael Lau, Jason Siu, and Eric So to designer toy stars including Tristan Eaton, Huck Gee, MAD and Sket-One and finally to lowbrow/postbrow artists such as Gary Baseman and Joe Ledbetter, and so many more.   Check  the dossier above for the full list of "secret agents" participating in this "covert mission". At the conclusion of the exhibition, each of the custom pieces will be auctioned off to benefit charity.

Be sure to check out  the slick Action Man 40 40's  website for more information and a slick way to get a a sneak peek of some of the custom figures. This should be a great event with a wide variety of looks and styles for Action Man.

This looks pretty cool to me!

Cant wait. Been crying for another event in London.

This is totally up my alley! As a kid, I used the 3" 80s Joes as pro wrestlers, painting wrestling boots on some of them, and giving others Dusty Rhodes-like scar tissue.
