Full circle. Superplastic has just announced a brand-new Gorillaz art toy featuring flamboyant front-man 2D rocking out with an old-school micThis is the first art toy collaboration with Jamie Hewlett’s virtual animated band since the original vinyl toy series which started in 2005 from Kidrobot,  which was of course founded by Superplastic co-founder Paul Budnitz.

The new 12″ vinyl art toy features an edgy, grown-up 2D with spiked blue hair, scowl,  and a minimalist, sleek fashion sense. And then there are the shoes which complete the vibe and have received the fully-sculpted treatment. Little details such as the separate buckle make the character come to life.

The new Gorillaz 2D figure is available for pre-order now for $80 direct from Superplastic with ‘Guranateed Xmas delivery’.  Let’s hope Noodle, Murdoc and Russel are on their way.
