A few days ago we brought you the first teaser images of Gallery 1988’s first artist series resin figure – Accidental Mishap from Travis Lampe. Here’s a look at the full figure as well as some in progress shots plus a video trailer.
Each hand-painted figure (ed of 50) has different tears to express the sorrow of this tragic yet undeniably colorful accident. In case you’re wondering, yes the broken rainbow can be pieced together ala a mini puzzle. The figure comes with the “Utmost Sympathy” print (10 x 10”, 50 signed and numbered pieces) and comes in a swanky clear plastic package. The figure and print fit together nicely and offer both halves of the story – perhaps a before and after (which is which). As can be seen in the pictures of the final product and the in-progress shots (after the jump), Julie B. of Pretty in Plastic did an excellent job with the sculpting, casting, and partial deco of the figure.
Travis Lampe’s Accidental Mishap is limited to 50 signed and hand numbered pieces, comes with the signed and numbered print and will be available for $300 at the opening of his Lumber Smack solo on Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 at Gallery 1988 Los Angeles.
