Spanish artist Joan Cornellà once again cuts through all the pretense, politeness, and posing with his latest sarcastic take on our inauthentic relationships with the new Nobody Loves You vinyl art toy, the latest in a long line of savagely honest and wickedly humorous series of figures with AllRightsReserved.
Nobody Loves You features a young lady all dressed up in pink for her birthday celebration. Dripping with pink frosting, her birthday cake reveals what her friends and family really think about her, mainly that ‘Nobody Loves You’. Apart from the double-take irony, the new figure stands out as nearly all of Joan Cornellà’s art toys feature the insecurities of male characters. From our quick review, the only other figure featuring a female character is the China Exclusive Double Hand-Stand featuring an older woman and a cute monkey pulling off a sweet skate trick. Progress comes in unexpected places with this example of equal opportunity embarrassment.
