Gaki Race: Jäeger by JT Studio

Taiwanese artist Jei Tseng showcases his artistry with the newest addition to his stylized urban racing series. The Gaki Race: Jäeger 1/6 art toy—the 3rd in the series— represents the dark, hellish side of the saga. The newest racer’s fit is British from his intricately tailored and curated clothes to his Goimp vehicle which is inspired by one of the artist’s favorite cars, the 60’s era Jaguar XJ 13. In keeping with the artist’s street style focus, the mini mechanical marvel also doubles as a hybrid, motorized skateboard of sorts, with footwells along the side.

Jäeger is a wild, creative mix of street style, motorsports and hellspawn. Drawn from the artist’s focus on mixing contrasting influences, the sharp attire blends the retro period the design is inspired by, fantasy (Jaguar mask) and modern elements (sports jersey, respirator). The unconventional, over-the-top design ethos is capped off with Jäeger‘s backpack-style Turbo Charger which doubles as a holder for his dual match pistols in matching racing green.

Beyond the unmistakable, eye-catching , deliciously askew style of Tseng’s concepts, the devil is really in the (almost endless) details. Rather than being content with a highly detailed GoImp vehicle, Tseng showcases his love for automotive design by including two surprising elements — a flip-up, clear engine hood and a separate upper shell which can be removed to reveal the engine and mechanical underpinnings. And changing gears, the devilish eyes are articulated (of course, they are). Be sure to watch the artist’s video overview (below) of the design for a fuller appreciation of the overall design.

An edition of 399, the Gaki Race: Jäeger 1/6 art toy is available for pre-order from JT Studio in a Standard standalone edition ($380) and a Premium edition ($570) which includes the GoImp vehicle. Collectors who are JT Studio VIP members will also received a bonus green Jade Devil mask. The figure is slated to ship in Q1-Q2 2024.
