Doktor A’s ‘The Future Ain’t What It Used To Be’ @ Clutter Gallery

Previous Next

UK artist Doktor A brings his Victorian-inspired robot art to the East Coast for the first time in over a decade with The Future Ain’t What It Used To Be solo at Clutter Gallery on Saturday (8.13). As suggested by the title, the new solo pokes a bit of fun at wild past predictions of the future. The new collection includes original pieces, several smaller Mechtorian creations, resin multiples, customized toys and graphic artworks.

Courtesy of Doktor A, here’s an exclusive look at one of his new original pieces: A Wave of Nostalgia. The surging piece finds one of Dok’s signature bots about to be overwhelmed by a tidal wave of pop culture toys. The timely, critical piece brings a packed wave featuring Vader, Minions, Mario and an army of POP. What else can you spot? Doktor A will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the piece to ocean cleaning projects.

“A Wave of Nostalgia”
Where are the new ideas?
The original voices?
The fresh new styles?
Drowned out in a sea of regurgitation and repetition.
Struggling to get their voices heard before they are washed away in the ersatz creativity of popular culture.

Doktor A’s The Future Ain’t What It Used To Be opens on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Clutter Gallery in Beacon, NY. For the opportunity to view the available art before its available online, sign up for the preview list .
