Hawaiian-born Aaron Kai’s debut Boxed Wave Blue vinyl art toy from 3DRetro is set to drop this week on NTWRK. A passionate surfer in high school, Kai’s work flows with his stylized waves inspired by the legendary Hawaiian surf.
Featuring an isolated section of one of Kai’s waves, Boxed Wave is perhaps not immediately connected to the ocean for those not familiar with the artist’s inspirations. For those in the know, the cresting blue wave with pop art style foam and black motions is immediately recognizable. The art toy sits between Kai’s paintings of large waves and his more abstract patterns seen on apparel. For a closer look at the figure, check out our unboxing video (below).
The Boxed Wave Blue vinyl art toy (8″) will be available on Thursday (3.24) at 12 PM PDT via the NTWRK app for $199.
