Miami-based artist Abstrk’s upcoming Vampiro vinyl art toy from UVD Toys is the next chapter in his series of vampire characters he first sprayed on roll-down gates in Havana, Cuba. Inspired in part by Juan Padrón’s Vampiros En La Habana animated film (1985), the character features a blue-skinned urban vampire with an angular face and prominent, horned wings.
The Vampiro figure—digitally sculpted by Oasim Karmieh— captures the character mid move, hands held high as he leaps forward. The striking dynamic pose brings the character to life by fully utilizing the three-dimensional medium. With backwards turned cap, Abstrk jersey, camo cargo shorts and sneakers, Vampiro is a product of his neighborhood haunts.
An edition of 200, the Vampiro Blue vinyl art toy (8″) will debut in a limited initial quantity at UVD Toys’ booth (#423) for $125 at DesignerCon 2021 (11.12 – 11.14) in Anaheim, CA. The figure will also be available for online preorder (11.15) direct from UVD Toys for Q1 2022 shipping.
