Japanese artist Haroshi has collaborated with Avant Arte on two premium marble sculptures of his Guzo character. One of his newer characters, Guzo features a streamlined oblong body with carved features including a zig zag ‘stomach’. Previously seen as wood figures created with Haroshi’s signature pressed skateboard process, the new Guzo marble editions stand 12″ tall and are crafted from blocks of white or black marble. The natural veining of the stone adds a unique visual texture to each piece. The organic, unpredictable nature of the marble markings offers an interesting counterpart to Haroshi’s meticulously planned recycle skateboard artwork.
Editions of 50, the Guzo sculpture will be available in White Marble and Black Marble on June 4, 2021 from Avant Arte for €10,000 ($12,231). For the latest updates, be sure to join Avant Arte’s mailing list (‘waiting list’).
