‘Deconstructed’ by Kayla Mahaffey at Thinkspace Gallery

Chicago-based painter Kayla Mahaffey is set to open her Deconstructed solo, virtually, with Thinkspace Gallery on Saturday (5.2). Her new collection of work features ten mesmerizing acrylic and spray paint on wood panel pieces. Continuing her signature aesthetic of surrounding photorealistic portraits of young children with frenetic bursts of cartoon-like characters, symbols and background elements that weave in, around and sometimes through them. The eye-catching work seems to highlight the jumble of creativity, dreams, emotions and potential within the next generation. We are all a product of so many influences and inspirations that surround us and shape us into who we are and will become.

Thinkspace has a full slate of online virtual opening events for ‘Deconstructed’ starting with a video tour that will be available on the gallery’s Instagram TV on Saturday (5.2) at Noon PDT followed by an Instagram live walkthrough of the exhibition at 1 PM.
