Preview: Dehara’s ‘Sofvi Dismantling II’ at Giant Robot 2

Previous Next

As we previously mentioned, Dehara returns to Giant Robot 2 on Saturday evening (2.22) for the opening of his Sofvi Dismantling II show. The exhibition features the Japanese artist’s deconstructed and reconstructed sofubi art toys made by swapping parts from his many production figures to create weird, crazy and unexpected new things.  Courtesy of Giant Robot, here’s a nice preview of just some of the new, essentially 1-off show pieces.  This is just a tiny look at what is usually a large show, with plenty of variety from quirky to weird to a bit naughty.

As with last year, Dehara will also lead a Mini Sofvi Dismantling Workshop on Sunday (2.23) from 3 to 4:30 PM. Participants will get to make their very own Dismantled Dehara sofubi from a wide selection of parts. This looks like alot of fun. There’s a $20 workshop fee to cover materials.  Spots are limited—drop a line to mail@giantrobot.com if you’d like to participate.
