A Closer Look at Little Maddie from Bigshot Toyworks

We recently received a review sample of Bigshot Toyworks’ Little Maddie, the crazy Cthulhu-like pony figure.  What began as one of Bigshot founder Klim Kozinevich’s side projects, has—thanks  to an unexpected viral turn and subsequent Kickstarter in May 2014—become a very impressive art toy.  As you may know, Maddie is part of a larger story featuring the Four Horises of the ‘Pocalypse, gifted teenage ponies, whom she mentors.

The OG purple Little Maddie stands 6” tall and features ball-socket articulation for the head and her wings.  One really nice touch, among many, is the spot use of metallic purple paint on Maddie’s head, legs and wings.  It looks great and adds a wow factor, as this type of application is rarely seen on production toys.   In making his Chthulu pony a reality, Klim and the Bigshot crew have gone all-out including sculpted-in suckers on the underside of the tentacles around her mouth and fancy tail.

Maddie is not only well-designed, she’s well put-together.  This is a quality figure from the injection molding/casting to the deco and paint. Balance is spot-on and the figure feels “solid”.

All of the above, is a long-winded way of saying that if the thought of owning a wild, purple, Cthulhu-inspired pony toy excites you, then buy with complete confidence knowing you’ll be getting an excellently designed and produced figure.

If you missed out on the Kickstarter, no worries.  You can order your very own Little Maddie in either the OG purple (1000 pcs) or the clear Shadow edition (200 pcs) from 4horsies.com for $55 (+s/h).  And if you dig  Maddie you’ll want to check out the soon-to-be-ending 4 Horsies of the ‘pocalypse Kickstarter which will allow you to pick up sweet rewards including the 4 horsie gift pack and the Kickstarter exclusive GID Maddie.
