Coarse x Amanda Visell — ‘The Last Day of Autumn’

Coarse Toys has unveiled ‘The Last Day of Autumn’ at the Stroke Art Fair in Munich, a forthcoming deluxe vinyl set in collaboration with Amanda Visell.  I’m tempted just to say ‘WOW’, but that wouldn’t be very professional (ahem!).  Amanda and Coarse have been working together for the better part of a year to blend their respective styles into a collaborative project and this is the stunning result.

Sculpted by Coarse in their style, The Last Day of Autumn continues Amanda’s wood series in grand fashion with several young boys and girls (~4”) taking an axe to a poor, unassuming tree (~12”).  The real joy and magic here are the facial expressions – both on the children (deceptively peaceful and rather eager) and the besieged tree trunk.  In true Coarse fashion, the cut-out wood chunks will fit nicely back into the tree, should you want to ‘heal’ him.

The Last Day of Autumn will without a doubt be the must-have Amanda Visell vinyl ‘figure’ when it’s released and likely be the odds on favorite for Toy of the Year as well.
