For his submission to Super Cooper’s ‘Music to My Ears’ group show @ TAG (8.24) , Mikie Graham has customized the Kidrobot Gorillaz figures to reflect the animated band’s island-going vibe they rocked for their 2010 ‘Plastic Beach’ album. Inspired by the theme, Mikie re-conceptualized Russell as an island of sorts by creating a custom sculpt of the big man’s head (1+ pounds of Magic Sculpt) with just enough space for Noodle to keep her feet dry. Finishing out the concept, each of the Gorillaz beachcombers has their own separate little island base complete with odds and ends that seem to have washed ashore. In addition to the Russel Island, Noodle also comes with a wooden base complete with gun case. Props to Mikie for a beautiful job on re-making the Gorillaz with their Plastic Beach flow.
