True confessions: Yes, I’ve watched Curling. And yes, it’s odd. However, these Curling Players figure designs from Fabrice Le Nezet are pretty amazing. They’ve got a strong urban vibe that’s both familiar (think early HK toys, especially Lau and Eric So]) yet fresh and unquestionably well-done. Love the tiny heads, the street wear with crazy oversized zippers, the curling gear slung on the backs, and the playful mixing of scale especially for the limbs. These days its rare to see something that really catches my eye – but these definitely do. The only downside is their status as products.
From Fabrice’s description over at Behance, he hand-cast these in urethane after creating the silicone molds from a rapid proto print out. As you can see he’s managed to produce some tight, clean parts. We’ve fired off an inquiry, but right now it’s hard to determine how far along these are in terms of finished items. The shots of the painted figures may very well be renders. At this point it’s not clear if he’s selling his hand-done pieces or if there are any plans for production. We’ll keep you updated on these.
Very cool style!
