Toy Art Gallery will present their debut show, Netzwerk and Musashinto Tech – New Works By Daniel Goffin and Martin Osuna, with an opening on Friday, May 28th (7-10 PM). Both artists create original figural works which blend the excitement of art toys with a sculptural tradition.
Daniel Goffins’ (Germany) studies at the Manga at Kyoto Seika University, Japan and the School of Art and Design in Kassel, Germany are reflected in his Netzwerk universe which envisions a near-future (40 years ahead) in which nano-tech has advanced to the point where people can choose a body be it cartoony or what we currently think of as ‘robotic’.
Martin Osuna’s (Argentina) work recasts the subject of his childhood fascination, action figures, as idols or saints of a new secular pop religion featuring futuristic versions of Japan’s past including Samurai Robots and Monks.
