Amanda Visell’s Tic Toc Apocalypse mini-fig series drops from Kidrobot Today, Thursday April 1st 2010. While today is April Fool’s this series is the real deal.  Her first original blind-boxed mini series features many of the characters from her ‘08 solo show of the same name as well as a few additional favorites including the Wood Dragon and the Pegaphunt.   In all, there are 14 different figures (including two alternate color designs) and each has been featured in at least one original art piece prior to this series.

If there’s one thing you might be wondering, it’s likely about the translation from Amanda’s original art to these new minis.  Rest easy – these little guys carry her aesthetic quite well,  down to her signature dry brushed look.  While based on her original art, the Tic Toc gang maintain a good amount of articulation which is always nice – these are not static plastic sculptures.  One neat aspect of this series is that many of the figures are based on one-of-a-kind  wooden sculptures including the two-headed Ice God, the Bat Fighter Gnome, and the Centaur.  While only one collector can have the privilege of owning those pieces, with a little luck quite a few of us can have a mini Ice God to call our own.

From their initial announcement, Kidrobot revealed 11 of the 14 figures.  The three previously unseen figures include the Black ‘n Pink Evil Poopicorn, the regular Blue Pegaphunt (the White is a chase), and the Centaur.  Let’s break down ratios really quickly: Wood Dragon (2:16), Bat (2:16),  Evil Poopicorn (3:32), Pegaphunt(3:32), Giraffagon (1:16), Caveman (1:16), Gnome (1:16), Griffin (1:16), Jackalope (1:16), White Pegaphunt (1/32), Poopicorn (1/32), Bat Fighter Gnome (1:64), Ice God (?/??) and Centaur(?/??).  Based on the known ratios and the fact that there are 16 figures per case, it seems likely that one of the mystery ratio figures is fairly common. We’ll have to watch the boards and twitter for people’s pulls to figure it out.

Usually we’d be done and you’d be off to our exclusive photos (after the jump) of each and every figure.  Heck, you’ve probably already jumped ahead.  If you’re still with us – here’s a bit about the packaging.  Ordinarily collector cards are cool little extras and little more.  For Tic Toc Apocalypse, Amanda has designed the cards with cool sketch images of each character as well as a little blurb about each harbinger of destruction in her signature witty and dry humor. Here’s one example, Poopicorn — Attacks from both ends.  Fear it from above and below

Tic Toc Apocalypse is available now from Kidrobot’s retail locations, online at kidrobot.com and select retailers.  Each blind box has a suggested retail of $9.95.
