The upcoming TriPasu kaiju designed by Mark Nagata and sculpted by Naoki-san of Cronic is part of the ongoing Max Toy Co x Cronic Imagination Series. These pics show off the clay sculpt of the figure which will stand about 5" tall and be cast in 100% Japanese vinyl.
First reaction — cool! Sweet design AND it’s made in Japan. Mark has created one mean looking monster. The head sculpt is pretty sweet with the the three eyes, undulating tentacles, the bony head and the two horns. Finally, love the ‘hands’ — not aggresive with boxing gloves but a much more neutral stance. The asymetry is great too — suckers on the left ‘palm’ but none on the right. Nice to see some homage to Cronic DNA with the overall head shape, torso and feet. Old and new togther, in one sweet figure.
TriPasu will debut at Wonderfest in Japan (2.24.08) with the first release from Max Toy in March. Each edition will be hand-painted by Mark Nagata and extremely limited. TriPasu will ship with a header card painted by Mark. Expect limited wholesale offerings through STRANGEco as well as a few retailer exclusives.
