Heads up Atlanta. The upcoming Atlanta Comics Expo (February 8th – 10th, 2008) at the Sheraton Atlanta hotel will feature several designer toy events including the "Iron Munny" custom competition, a workshop on toy customizing and a toy swap. If you love vinyl and live near Atlanta, you need to check it out. Sket One will be there for the events and will have new merch for sale -toys, prints and more.
Iron Munny is what it sounds like — a custom exhibition where competitors customize Munnys with the use of a "secret ingredient". Invited guests including Ragnar, Michael Golden, Eric Powell, Derek Yaniger, Dave Cook, David Mack and Andy Runton will create custom Munnys for the event. The customs will be auctioned off with benefits going to support RIF (Reading is Fundamental). Fans may also submit custom Munnys by Friday @ Noon. Iron Munny is sponsored by Criminal Records and Kidrobot. Kidrobot’s Toy Baroness will be support the event and add a touch of glam.
The guest artists will be introduced and given a Munny and the secret ingredient on Friday (2.8) @ 4 PM and will have until Noon on Sunday (2.10) to submit their design. Judging will take place at 1 PM followed by the Iron Munny Finale featuring a display of the Iron Munnys and the fan submitted Munnys. Voting for the best fan submission will run from 1 PM to 2 PM.
