Beyond the Cel opening this Friday, September 14th (7 PM) at the Mesa Arts Center explores and celebrates the influence of traditional animation on contemporary fine art. No longer merely a form of popular entertainment, cartoons serve as the base inspiration of many of the top artists creating Lowbrow and Pop Surrealist artwork. The show will feature the work of on Ron English, Gary Baseman, Sket One, KRK Ryden, Anthony Ausgang, Andrew Brandou, The Brothers McLeod, Ryan Bubnis, Michelle Valigura and Amanda Visell.
