Seen: Buff Fest (7.22.07)

MINDstyle dropped the Buff Monster Art toys in grand style with Buff Fest, a double header release event, this past Sunday (7.22) on Melrose Ave in LA.  On a blazing hot day fans lined up outside Munky King Melrose for Foreplay, the first half of Buff Best, to purchase Series of Buff Monsters toys.

Many if not most people were seen with at least one case while several had two and three cases.  As people waited in line they opened toy after toy looking for the black/silver chase for Buff to sign.  Buff happily signed the limited edition event prints, figures (in multiples too), cases, outer cardboard MINDstyle boxes — pretty much whatever was asked of him.  All told, by 2 PM or so Munky King was sold out of their stock (some 900 figures).

Having secured their cases, many of the fans walked down Melrose to Barracuda for the Happy Ending after party. Two exclusives – an 8" black Buff Monster figure (200 total) and a 3 " GID edition (300 total) drew quite a line in front of the store.  Limited-edition prints and tees were also available.  MINDstyle passed out goodies to the collectors in line — helium Buff balloons, free Barracuda shirts, water, tickets for free ice cream and hot dogs.   The toys were arranged on two tables inside Barracuda for handly self-serve shopping. Buff Monster, perched on a stool at the entrance, once again signed all sorts of products including at least one of his LA Dunnys.   By 6 PM, only one of the 8" black editions remained plus a handful of 3" GIDs.

To cap off the event, 5 lucky collectors each  won raffles for  8" black  figures which will be customized by Buff Monster.  This was a release to remember, for the impressive  amount of product sold at both venues,  the dedication of Buff Monster’s fans waiting in two separate lines in the glaring sun, and finally for Buff’s marathon signing session which lasted about six hours in total.
