Mike Leavitt’s solo art show, The New York Art Army, will open this coming Saturday, June 23, 2007 from 6-10 PM at The Showroom NYC.
The show will feature 60 "toys" depicting famous and
controverisal artists. Each figure is professionally finished with full
articulation and is sculpted from scratch with no manufacturing. The 6
to 12 inch tall figure come with its own 3-D diorama, glass bell jar,
or reclosable plastic blister package, with most priced under $200
each. Sure to be found are pop icons like Stevie Wonder, Billie
Holiday, Joan Jett, Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Ol’ Dirty Bastard,
Slick Rick, and more. The centerpiece is a 3 foot tall, carved wood
Andy Warhol; a cigar store-style statue that articulates with 19 moving
parts. The show closes on June 30, 2007, giving New Yorkers only
one week to see these action figures in person.
