T-28 – A Hit at the Grammys

Art toys took center stage as Kaching Brands’s massive 3 feet tall vinyl T-28  was featured in an extreme close-up in Lupe Fiasco’s rap nomination video clip during the  49th Annual Grammy Awards.  While art toys continue to seep into popular culture and conscience, the appearance on the worldwide telecast of music’s biggest night marks one of the most significant exposures yet.

  1. This is awesome. Reminds me that my parents asked me if there was some toys that i collect in an add in one of my mom’s home living magazines. She turned to a page that was a Peptobismol ad featuring Horvath ugly dolls.

  2. How exactly is this a significant exposure for the “art toy” scene? Being such an iconic character it is far from an original design. How does it expose anything in the “art toy” scene. Just another Japanese refference in a film clip.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love one of these and they look beautifully made (famous last words in this hobby). It’s just a replica. A tribute.
For exposure to be meaningful, it needs to come from a fresh piece front and centre.
Pitty everthing is past it’s used by date.

  3. You know I tried so hard to buy one last year but I couldn’t get a hold of one. I heard Medicom has a large version coming this year. I don’t know the size but fuck it it’s better than buying shit from 1045. Their customer service sucks.
