Now we’re talking. For SDCC, Thunderdog Studios will drop the vinyl we’ve been eagerly waiting for since this year’s Toy Fair back in February. Tristan Eaton’s Your Momma will be available in an SDCC exclusive black and silver edition at the Thunderdog Party on Saturday, July 22nd in a location shrouded in darkness, innuendo and subterfuge (join the Thunderdog mailing list for the exact coordinates). The SDCC edition of this uncompromising 10" figure is limited to 100 pieces and will sell for $150. Beyond the strong art and design, this one is loaded with removable slippers, removable hair, baseball hat, baseball bat, secret baby, cigarette, pearl necklace and above all else, maternal attitude.

DragonDavy

Blazing the way!
Incredible! It doesnt get any better than this!
Fuggin killed it bro! Can’t wait to grab this one fo sho!
I don’t get it. What’s remotely great about this? Other then it’s Tristan fan club from the KR boards hyping this it’s pretty awful. Oh well.
same here. i don’t think it’s a good design. and how come it can call for $150. opps, really surprise me that!!! For Kaws Twins figure also nearly same price. I dont think he can greater then kaws!
IMO, Your Momma is cool partly because it’s Tristan’s edgier, earlier art essentially unfiltered. Art that made me immediately think, wow that would be a hot toy. It’s also bold in that it rides a potentially controversial line. Just my two cents 😉
So this is a vinyl pregnant women, smoking a cigarette while pregnant? :-/
IMO, it’s quite ugly. you saw the baby?
oh boy…not a good scene, very super whack.
this is some new sort of twist on whiteface. whiteface products! who is the buyer? what is the message? is this the same guy thats in pictures throughout this blog? 1. white american of middle class status. 2. shaved head.
i am worried here. i am worried about the direction this scene is going and the indications that arise about the lack of understanding portrayed here. the glorification of this imagery is dangerous. wow, wow, wow!
tarik m. washington.
Great conversation here. I just want to clairfy that there are several editions of this figure planned including a caucasian one. Also, I hardly resemble a caucasian skin-head 😉 Where one sees a racially insensitive representation, I think one can also see an artistic expression that pokes fun at antiquated political stereotypes and does so in a way that gives power and strength where it is often not recognized.
Thank you Tarik for making me laugh.
I don’t think Tristan is a racist, but I can see how it can be mistakenly interpreted as a racist toy. It seems to suggest that black women are violent and produces ugly babies which I don’t think is Tristan’s intention. I suggest doing a George Bush edition: Pregnant George Bush carrying a rifle (or a missile), oil barrel instead of soup can, money instead of cigarrette. The baby can be a mini Osama bin Laden. Include a cowboy hat instead of a baseball cap. Then all is forgiven.
this is NICE!!! i like it. a lot better than all that cutesy crap going around lately.
in the first picture… if you only look from the torso down… it looks like shamu with legs eating a baby.
I don’t really like this one.
I mean it’s a pregnant woman with a baseball bat.
woopdee do.
Crown Heights Beef?
really funny,edgy …and clever HOW?
The price point is kind of holding me back. Still, this is definitely bringing urban vinyl back into the right direction – raw and controversial!!!
To save clogging up every board on this topic…let me invite you all to read the lovely discussion I had about this toy earlier today over on the KR board.
You’ll find any questions you have answered in full.

Tris you are awesome..:)
Frankly I’m amazed that this toy is being called racist when there are toys out there like this that are going unmentioned. its an ape dressed up like a black guy?! seriously.

I wish I were white and had the ability to ignore the negative effects of racist imagery because it never applies to me. Let’s make art that doesn’t make minorities cringe and klan members smile.
