Show Coverage: Flight of the Navigator – Joe Ledbetter and Greg “Craola” Simkins @ Gallery 1988 (3.14.06)

Craola

JLed

Flight of the Navigator, a joint show featuring Joe Ledbetter and Greg "Craola" Simkins opened this past Tuesday (3.14.06) @ Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles.  Both of these artists are in high demand and their numerous individual paintings showcased their unique and alluring visual styles.  Joe Ledbetter is loved for his streamlined drawings of emotionally  complex characters including the signature Mr. Bunny.  Craola’s work depicts familiar yet alien wildlife through a breathtaking painting style.

Attesting to both artists’ popularity, an impressive number of folks showed up for the show.   The pieces were excellent and I really enjoyed the chance to finally see a large selection of Craola’s work up close and in person.  Additionally, reviewing my pics to choose the best ones(i.e. mostly NOT blurry) was a blast — amazing painting after jaw-dropping painting 😉   In case you’re wondering, some of Craola’s pieces were still available when I fet around 9:30 PM on Tuesday.  JLed’s pieces are completely sold out — the next opportunity will be his upcoming all bunny solo show also at Gallery 1988.

Enjoy the pics.  I’m pretty sure I’ve got all the paintings covered though I am missing a pics of a few limited edition prints.
