Play Imaginative and Danny Chan

Now tell me this is not THE bomb!!! Spooky Cat designed by Danny Chan
is a 8-9 inch tall vinyl toy packed with coolness and a tad of
deviousness. A summer release, this will definitely be on the top of my
list. Play Imaginative sure knows how to bankrupt us!!! Here’s a 360 degree look at this cool feline.

  1. one cool spooky cat, PI has a nice new line up, can’t wait for all these to be released.

  2. Yeah good point. This is eerily similar to cool cat and wolfgun by Tokyo Guns — much more so than it is to Mad Teeth. Though, I believe Danny has been drawing his character for awhile. Is it a homage or a rip? I would have liked to see some more distinguishing features — as it is now, the hands are slightly different, this one has more of a gut and most noticeably whiskers. More could have been done to make it more distinct that’s for sure. How similar is too similar? If Wolfgun was still easy to find then this wouldn’t go anywhere, but seeing as how it’s an older piece…

  3. IMO it’s rip off.
just change the hand and cloth cannot be a design. since it’s other designer’s style. i saw a photo before it even come with a jason siu’s turntables. it’s surprise that Play Imaginative will going on this.

  4. Yes, that was so-called original design & Danny is one of the In-Designer. Takumi’s concept plus Jason Siu’s turnable, and once using Kill Bill’s tracksuit. This is a collage more than a design. The funny is why Play Imaginative working on this project? I guess there should be some good Singaporean designers around….

  5. Guys,,,if you looked closely at the turntables, those are real ones and the spooky cat is photoshopped on. Well..it does have some similarities to Takumi’s design and so does almost every other original toy out there too. I won’t name names.
