Here’s a late reminder about the intriguing From the Island of Misfit Toys @ the Ben Maltz Gallery on the campus of the Otis College of Art and Design. The opening reception is happening as I type this (7 to 10PM pacific). This show features artists customizing toys as part of larger art installations. From what we hear, there are some amazing large installations at this show. Local artist Nathan Cabrera has some amazing stuff at the show. Also, he will have AP prints of his "Uncle Scam" poster available at the show. This is the poster that accompanied his previous life-size Little Red Riding Hood sculpture complete with storm trooper armor and ahem a Gatling Gun. Now, Who’s Afrid of the Big Bad Wolf? Check out the show and if by some good fortune, you live close by… drive out. There’s still time. If not, the show runs through April 15th so you have plenty of time to catch all the sweet toy art.
