For the Love of Toby – Gary Baseman Art Show

Cool news — Noted artist Gary Baseman is going to be putting on an art show starting in mid-May in Los Angeles. If you are wondering who he is, his most conspicuous work is most likely the cartoon characters on the Cranium game box.  I’m kind of ashamed to admit that my first exposure to Gary’s work was through his Dumb Luck toy which he signed at the KidRobot Los Angeles opening (a great event!).  I really should make it a point to pick up his art book, "Dumb Luck", to get a better appreciation of his entire body of work rather than just his current work.  My last thought about Baseman, is I’m not sure how I feel about the vaguely naked organ style that he frequently uses.  I can appreciate from an artistic point of view but it still feels a tiny-bit uncomfortable to me.  That said, I’m going to pick up his set of 5 dunnies, even the one who is proudly displaying his crotch!
