Seen: Mister Cartoon’s Lost Angel Release Party

Mister Cartoon, SA Studios and Super Rad Toys dropped Cartoon’s Lost Angel figure this past Sunday (3.18) @ Meltdown in a celebration featuring the low rider lifestyle, the photography of Estevan Oriol, huge paintings from Cartoon, a taco truck, and of course the impressive toy.  Unlike many release events, this launch was as much about lifestyle and culture as it was about the toy.

The event started at 4pm and until Cartoon arrived for the signing, the focus was on the back parking lot with one of his custom cars  on display as well several low riders from the Lifestyle car club.  Mixed in with the cars were two sweet baby strollers — including the metallic green "Terrible Twos".  In addition to the rides, the crowd gathered outside for the free tacos which were awesome.

The gallery space featured two custom bikes flanking Cartoon’s ‘City of Angeles’ mural, a huge ‘boxing’ painting, and the stellar photography of Estevan Oriol.  Out in the front of Meltdown, a massive Lost Angel painting on wood and two custom air brushed bikes driven into place by Estevan framed the signing table.

The line to purchase a Lost Angel and have it signed by Cartoon stretched in front of Meltdown under the watchful gaze of a huge Lost Angel window mural.  The event was well attended with many of Cartoon’s crew present including Diablo — the real life Lost Angel featured on the toy and the upcoming graphic novel. Around 6:30 PM,  Cartoon arrived in a procession of classic cars — Cartoon in front, followed by Estevan Oriol and several others.  Mister Cartoon, Estevan and Diablo signed at the table which was surrounded by collectors, fans and photographers all jockeying for position.  An extraordinary ‘toy release’ for sure.
