{"id":55727,"date":"2008-12-31T20:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-12-31T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/actionacademy.co\/vinyl-pulse\/ron-english-grin\/"},"modified":"2008-12-31T20:00:00","modified_gmt":"2008-12-31T20:00:00","slug":"ron-english-grin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vinylpulse.com\/2008\/12\/ron-english-grin.html","title":{"rendered":"Ron English &#8212; Grin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/images.vinylpulse.com\/vp_pics\/from_windows_live_writer\/97bd5a8d2f9b_ECD0\/GRINtoy.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[av_rainbowsaurus]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"GRINtoy\" border=\"0\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/images.vinylpulse.com\/vp_pics\/from_windows_live_writer\/97bd5a8d2f9b_ECD0\/GRINtoy_thumb.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 5px;\" title=\"GRINtoy\" width=\"512\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>We first saw this&#0160; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popaganda.com\/\">Ron English<\/a> figure earlier this month in Miami at the <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress-305716-980974.cloudwaysapps.com\/2008\/08\/kaiju-monster-i.html\">Kaiju Monster Invasion<\/a> show.&#0160; At the time we though it was a&#0160; custom.&#0160; Turns out, the show served as a preview of sorts &#8212; it\u2019s a new production figure.&#0160; Grin is set for world-wide release on <strong>January 13th<\/strong>&#0160; <strong>2009<\/strong> in HK from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.garageworksindustries.com\/\">Garageworks&#0160; Ind.<\/a> \/ Made by Monsters.&#0160;&#0160; This is apparently the first of several new figures in an upcoming Popaganda vinyl series from Made by Monsters. <\/p>\n<p>Grin reminds us of the humanoid figure from Ron\u2019s previous Big Yang and the Yang Bangers (still love the name after all this time!) &#8212; \u2018cept he even more closely resembles the pop icon he\u2019s based on.&#0160; The hyper-detailed skeletal mouth is creepy and adds a nice juxtaposition with the surrounding \u2018toony design.&#0160; Finally the shirt pattern is a nice visual throwback to the previous toy.
