In a fun twist, Alex Pardee and Variantz continue their collaboration with their first-ever art toy based on one of their popular trading cards. The new Polar Opposite resin art toy featuring the gnarly stitched-together ‘polar bear’ bring Pardee’s Topps Project 70 2021 companion card (originally of Pete Alonso) to frightening life.
First revealed at DesignerCon 2023, the Polar Opposite figure will be offered as a ‘blind’ release which includes the standard Mask-Off edition (300 pcs) and two elusive chase variants: Masked (30 pcs) and Bloody (15 pcs). The Bloody edition is an embellished take on Mask-Off with generous amounts of ‘blood’ hand-splattered by Pardee himself. In a fun, fitting touch the figure includes a trading-card style signed COA that corresponds to the specific figure’s variant type.
The Polar Opposite resin art toy (6″) will be available as a ‘blind’ drop on Friday (2.2) at 12 PM PST from Variantz for $145.
