Canadian painter Dave Cooper has collaborated with Paris-based Golem (an Artoyz label) with the brand-new Mimi Wobbly Classic vinyl art toy. Mimi was the star of Cooper’s 2008 animated music video for Canadian rock band Danko Jones. Mimi is a welcome return to vinyl toys for Cooper who previously released Pip + Norton and Eddy Table with the long gone, but fondly remembered Critterbox.
A lover of latex, Mimi’s exaggerated proportions flow out of the artist’s signature style developed as an underground comics artist. With a wide, stretched face and impossible body shape, Mimi is a ‘toon for adults — Cooper’s specialty.
An edition of 100, the Mimi Wobbly Classic vinyl art toy (11.81″) will be available on Wednesday (2.14) at 3 AM PST from Artoyz for €250 (~ $263.60). Based on the name and edition size, we’re expecting to see additional colorways in the future.
