Defiance by John Doe x Silent Stage Gallery

John Doe has collaborated with Silent Stage Gallery on the Defiance resin sculpture in three editions. Doe is known for mostly grayscale, mixed-media images of people in striking scenes punctuated with bursts of color such as the little girl standing calmly in front of a massive, roaring lion.

An instantly understand message of not backing down in the face of fierce obstacles, Defiance offers a trio of takes on resistance with each colorway featuring a different object in the brave girl’s hand. The Mane edition features a gunmetal design with a rainbow-colored pinwheel, the Love Me Not Edition offers a bronze finish with a daisy and finally the Gold Tooth edition features a black finish with a paint brush dripping with gold paint. The highly detailed sculpt of the girl and the lion capture the visceral quality of John Doe’s artwork which utilizes screen prints of photographic elements.

The Defiance resin sculpture (Girl: 5.5 x 3.6 x 3.1″, Lion: 8″ x 7.5 x 9.8″) will be available on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 9 AM PST from Silent Stage in the Mane (Ed. of 50, $275) , Love Me Not (Ed. of 20, $375), and Gold Tooth ( Ed. of 10, $450) editions.
