As you may have seen, Hong Kong department store LCX has collaborated with ToyQube to bring the magic of Osamu Tezuka’s iconic anime hero to holiday shoppers with the immersive Astro Boy Ski Station installation running until the new year (1.1.24). Offering collectors a chance to hit the slopes for a Christmas-themed ski trip with the anime hero as they gear up, hop on the lift and ride a cable car, ToyQube brings the experience of its ongoing Astro Boy art toy series to life with envy-inducing photo opportunities and exclusive collectibles.
Nestled on Level 3 of LCX’s store at the Ocean Terminal in the Harbour City mall in Hong Kong, the Astro Boy Ski Station offers three main experiences. First, the conceptual ‘Gear Store‘ offers an ideal starting point, inviting visitors to ‘try on’ Astro Boy’s iconic red boots. The feed-juicing photo ops continue with larger-than-life snowboards. winter gear and the life-sized, walk-in Power-up Capsules. The fun continues with a giant Astro Boy showing off his snowboarding skills against a festive, snowy backdrop. Finally, visitors can sit side by side with Astro Boy on the Ski Lift. From selfies to free digital photo booth fun, the Sightseeing Cable Car tour puts fans into the middle of the holiday action with fun, festivial digital props headlined by Astro Boy. Pose, print and go.
Showcasing Astro Boy’s love of sports, the LCX x ToyQube installation also celebrates urban sports with the Skateboarding Area. A giant Astro Boy Hoodie sculpture designed by HK artist Chino Lam greets visitors to the area which features a skate ramp and stylized displays with special Astro Boy figures and collectibles created for the holiday event.
Come for the experience and the photos and leave with the toys? Sounds good to us. There are several brand-new figures available for purchase including the 36″ Chino Lam Astro Boy Hoodie figure, the glittery Astro Boy Snowman figure and the Astro Boy Snowman LED lamp. Sharp eyes will notice several as-yet unreleased figures and collectibles as well.
