Singapore-based Clogtwo brings his street style to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with his new Urban Combat: Michelangelo polystone art toy with Mighty Jaxx. The nunchuck-wielding hero-in-a-half-shell is recast as a hip, lanky yet athletic urban kid that also happens to be a crime-fighting hero.
With an over-sized boombox on his shoulder, trusty skateboard stowed across his pack, and emergency food supplies (pizza of course), Michelangelo is ready for a busy day on the street. His detailed, line-heavy tattoos and prayer beads add lifestyle nuance + texture. Of course… if Shredder or his minions should show their face, well the go-to nunchucks are within easy reach on his belt. For a varied display, the figure comes with a separate cement-style base.
With the recent rush on TMNT within the toy scene (art toys and otherwise), it can be challenging to create something that feels ‘fresh’. With a move away from the traditional turtle proportions to a more ‘normal’ human body and an emphasis on city life rather than combat (despite the name), Clogtwo’s TMNT take looks to break out of the shell.
An edition size of 300, the Urban Combat: Michelangeo polystone art toy is available for pre-order from Mighty Jaxx for $199 with a scheduled ship date of March 2024.
