LA-based artist Tristan Eaton is set to release his Uprise vinyl art toy sculpture with Sideshow at this weekend’s pop-up event at Sized in Los Angeles and then online. The fist-shaped sculpture celebrates the human right of protesting against injustice and oppression. First seen in an over-sized original for Eaton’s All At Once museum exhibition (2021), the sculpture is the three-dimensional expression of his painting collection of the same name which related several protest movements including the Black Panthers, WWII Freedom Fighters, Women’s Suffrage and more. As with his paintings and murals, the sculpture showcases the artist’s organic ‘collage’ style in which images, text and visual fragments flow together as a form of storytelling.
The Uprise vinyl art toy sculpture (16.5″), debuts in a matte Black edition (Edition of 700, $399) in honor of the Black Panthers whose raised fist inspired the shape. The pop-up will also feature an exclusive Gold edition (Edition of 200, $499). Each sculpture features a numbered metal plaque hand-signed by the artist, a rotatable display for a 360 degree display to view all the detail and a signed COA.
Beyond the vinyl sculpture, the Uprise Pop-Up event (9.29 – 10.1) will feature an print portfolio (Edition of 200, $499) with 10 giclee prints of the Uprise series paintings, a timed-release mini print available on demand ($100) at the event with spray paint embellishment and embossed gold foil stamp. The event will also feature a print shop offering AP prints of many of the artist’s sold-out print editions.
