The Mercedes Benz x Superplastic collaboration continues with today’s release of the new Superdackel collection. The Superdackel character —a sharp daschund dripping with three-point star bling—blends the iconic car maker’s rich legacy with the digital character building expertise. First unveiled as an animated video, Superdackel is a modern take on the Wackeldackel, cute daschund puppy toys with bobble heads, that were commonly seen in German cars back in the ’70s.
The new collection stars the Superdackel 11″ wood art toy sculpture. Crafted in cherry, maple, walnut and alder woods, the piece’s all-wood design evokes Mercedes Benz’s time-honored craftsmanship with a fresh, streetwise vibe. Just like its inspiration, the sculpture features a bobbing head. The collection also features a selection of lifestyle items including a hoodie, hat, tee, silk scarf and of course, dog collar.
An edition of 65, the Superdackel wood art toy sculpture (11″) is available for pre-order from Superplastic for $3,500 and is expected to ship in three to four weeks. The sculpture comes with a small circular display base and a custom Baltic birch box.
