Specializing in products celebrating art and art history, Today Is Art Day celebrates the life and art of Dut ch artist Vincent Van Gogh with the upcoming Van Gogh’s Dream vinyl art toy designed by Brazilian designer Gabriel Soares. Drawn from Van Gogh’s Bedroom in Arles painting series, the art toy set features the then struggling artist sitting on his bed dreaming of becoming an established artist—which we would achieve after his death.
Soares’ stylized take on Van Gogh with a thin profile, angular face, and slightly sad expression encourages empathy for the artist struggling day by day to gain recognition. An invitation into his house/studio in France, the three-piece set includes Van Gogh, his bed, and a pair of well-worn shoes.
An edition of 5000, the Van Gogh’s Dream vinyl art toy set (10 x 7 x 7″) will be available for pre-order in June from Today Is Art Day for $225 and is slated to ship in September. Ahead of the release, Today Is Art Day is accepting early registration for the presale.
