Mexico-based artist Rodrigo Roji follows his laid-back Always Somewhere Else vinyl art toy with two new figures from his RRAR brand x 3DRetro. First up is Eva, a tall female counterpart of sorts to the previous Somewhere male figure.
Flaunting her style, Eva rocks a tight blouse, pleated skirt and what we’ll call couture combat boots with the iconic pattern of a legendary luxury brand. The key is the fit, which is tight relative to Eva’s slender proportions. Like Roji’s previous male street style figure, Eva embodies RRAR’s focus on the nexus of art, toys and fashion.
Next up is Dildont. A lighthearted wild card of sorts, Dildont is indeed a walking dildo featuring extremely large feet (no arms/hands), detailed ‘junk’ and a sculpted butt. The attention to anatomical detail drives the concept and is sure to create more than a few double-takes.
Both characters flow out of Roji’s fine art work. They have previously been featured in Roji’s various exhibitions in larger resin formats—either one-offs or very small editions. As with Always Somewhere Else, the vinyl editions make the designs accessible to a much larger collector base.
3DRetro is set to release two colorways each of Eva and Dildont with a special RRAR release/signing event with Rodrigo Roji on Saturday (3.8) from Noon to 6 PM PDT at their Glendale location. Eva (14″, $150) will be available in both the Dark (gray/black/white) and Khaki (brown) while Dildont (7.5″) will represent in Light (off white) and Khaki (deep yellow). All four are editions of 200 pieces.
