Hero fish in a half shell? Yes 😉 HK artist Chino Lam reimagines the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with his plucky tuna, Jiro playing each role. The officially licensed Jiro X TMNT project—in collaboration with Nickelodeon and BigBoysToys-features four designs, one for each of the TMNT characters.
Each of the four designs (referred to by the signature color apparently) features different expressions from cute to cautious to clenched teeth. While not using the character names we’ve grown up with might seem odd, perhaps this makes sense if each is Jiro cosplaying as each turtle. The compact proportions and fun expressions should put this right up at the top of TMNT art toy fans.
The Jiro x TMNT will be released in a pair of two packs with the Red + Purple set up first. The first set will be available for pre-order at Gachabox’s TTE booth (Beacon 4 G18), Playtoysforever (4.8), Amaz (4.8) and Urdu (4.8) for HK$1600 ($204). The pressing question is whether they will be available outside of Asia. Will update once it’s clear. Finally, the Blue + Orange set will be available for preorder sometime in May.
