Filipino artist Otto Björnik introduces Byte Chu, the arch nemesis to his Bai Chu hopping vampire (Jiangshi) characters. Beyond the pricelessly humorous name, Byte Chu is a robotic hunter who mimics the appear of his Jiangshi prey, right down to the traditional talisman (removable). Created by a Taoist priestess, Byte Chu uses reliable if not slightly clumsy robotics to stave off the Jiangshi and prevent them from swiping oranges, one of their favorite targets. The fun design blends the traditional Jiangshi imagery with old-school, wind-up robots.
The Byte Chu resin art toy (2.75 x 2.75 x 5″) is available for pre-order from Otto Björnik for $130 and is slated to ship in the 2nd week of September. The signed/numbered figure comes in an illustrated premium box and includes a certificate of authenticity.
