Japanese artist Junko Mizuno conjures her singular brand of magic with the new Witch Queen resin art toy from Kidrobot. As with much of her work, the figure is a mix of contrasts that flow together. Regal yet seemingly evil. Elegant yet gory. Western yet Eastern.
Flowing with powerful magic, the Witch Queen is seen in a flowing regal robes adorned with Mizunko’s flower motif and her tattoo-inspired animal symbols. Green flames flicker across her body and out of her finger tips as they engulf a heart, perhaps from a hapless victim. Beyond the flames, her curved and spotted horns and oversized golden right hand are sure signs of her supernatural essence. This is the latest in a series of striking, original figures from Junko Mizuno x Kidrobot.
The Witch Queen resin art toy (8″) is available for pre-order from Kidrobot for $149.99 and is slated to ship in Q3 2023. With about six months to go, it’s surprising that KR is promoting the stand-out figure with what appear to be renders rather than photos of a prototype or factory sample.
