Piccolina Yakalina in Bronze by Mark Ryden x AllRightsReserved

Los Angeles-based pop surrealist painter Mark Ryden has collaborated with AllRightsReserved on a new series of Piccolina Yakalina bronze sculptures. Piccolina Yakalina features an animal-like figure with an oval face, short arms and a fur-covered cone-shaped body. While having distinct wide spread eyes and a furrowed forehead, the character’s face is somewhat reminiscent of Ryden’s other recent releases including Baby Bos in shape and style. This appears to be Ryden’s debut collaboration with AllRightsReserved.

As Ryden explains in the promo video (below), the Yakalina are spiritual entities that count mermaids, faeries and ghosts as sisters. Collectively, the 9 Yakalina form a mystical entity. Beyond the three featured in this initial release, six more are shown (briefly) in the video.

Hand-numbered editions of 20, the Piccolina Yakalina bronze sculptures (6.5″) are available in three editions (Bistre, Blush and Buff) for HK$21,980 (~$2800) via lottery from AllRightsReserved until Sunday (3.19) @ 9 PM PDT. Each sculpture comes in a matching wooden box and includes a signed/numbered certificate of authenticity.
