Bad boy photographer Tengusan’s UnDeR20 brand debut vinyl art toy is inspired by two movies featuring strong women beset by tragic circumstances. Lola in Parallel World takes its namesake from Tom Tykwer’s Run Lola Run (1998) while the concept for the first ‘Punk is not Dad’ colorway is inspired by Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis autobiographical graphic novel/animated film which relates the author’s traumatic experience of living through the Islamic Revolution in Iran as a nine-year old.
This first edition of Lola in Parallel World features a black/white design with removable hijab, a symbol of female oppression. The figure’s ‘Punk is not Dad’ is inspired by the ‘Punk is not dead’ shirt worn by Marjane. The figure includes a 1 page comic and Eminem stickers. The release also includes a randomly inserted chase with a cross-hatched Manga-style design.
