Snoop Dogg’s BAYC NFT Meets Art Toys with the Doctor Bombay Vinyl from Vital Toys

Previous Next

Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg’s Dr. Bombay character, born and inspired by his BAYC #6723 NFT, continues to spread through the culture with a brand-new vinyl art toy produced by long-term collaborators Vital Toys. Jumping off with the NFT headshot of the wild one, Snoop worked with Vital Toys to fully realize and bring to life the eclectic and flamboyant cheetah ape. Chillaxin’ with a stogie, Bombay flaunts his street fit with a combat helmet, pink fur jacket, camo cargo shorts and signature black combat boots. A celebrity presence in his own right, the funky doctor has made live appearances at Funko’s The Dogg House venue and fronted a fresh Crooks and Castles apparel capsule. A skull ring and retro digital 4:20 watch complete the look.

The limited-edition Dr. Bombay vinyl art toy stands 13″ tall, an apt fit for the lanky character. Based on our first-hand experience (watch for our video feature shortly), the figure is a strong, well-executed version of the character. The sculpt has good detail throughout including the pink fur pimp coat and black combat boots. The printing and paint is tight, most notably the cheetah texture which is sharp and crisp. The piece is fairly sure-footed, a relief considering the tall proportions.

The toy’s packaging features a custom black ‘shipper’ box with Dr. Bombay and Vital Toy logos. As you might expect, the shipper is an outer box designed to protect the primary display box which has dual windows on the front and back. Beyond the shipper, Vital Toys surrounds the display box with a 2-piece white foam insert as a secondary layer of protection. The striking display box design allows for full viewing without removing the figure.

The upcoming Dr. Bombay vinyl marks two decades of collaboration between Snoop and Vital Toys which began with the OG Snoop Dogg action figures.  The release highlights the brand’s work blurring the boundaries between digital art tokens and physical collectibles.  Reflecting on the project, Sidney Richlin, founder and CEO of Vital Toys, remarked that Vital Toys’ “aim is to elevate creativity, connection, and community through physical and digital collectibles. Our latest partnership with Snoop is the next chapter in our storied history and I’m stoked to be collaborating with him again.”

The Dr. Bombay vinyl art toy (13″) will be available for pre-order over a 48-hour window in late February/early March 2023 from Vital Toys for $250 with payment accepted in USD, ETH, Bitcoin and ApeCoin. There’s no need to wait though, as Vital Toys is offering Vinyl Pulse readers a special pre-purchase opportunity plus a 10% discount —don’t miss it.
